Beginning Flamenco Technique
This class teaches beginning principles of flamenco movement. Class
cover postura (posture), brazeo (armwork), floreo (handwork), vueltas
(turns), taconeo (footwork) and compas (rhythm phasing). Students will
examine basic rhythms through palmas (hand clapping). Recommended
for someone who has never had flamenco classes before or any form of
dance.
Teen Flamenco
The class continues principles of flamenco movement and castanet
technique. Choreography will be taught to appropriate level. Including,
entradas, marcajes, escobillas, falsetas and llamadas as the
choreography requires. Students will continue to examine rhythms
through palmas (hand clapping) and use of props.
Beginning I-A Adult Flamenco and Children's Beg. I Flamenco
This class teaches beginning principles of flamenco movement. Class
cover postura (posture), brazeo (armwork), floreo (handwork), vueltas
(turns), taconeo (footwork) and compas (rhythm phasing). Students will
examine basic rhythms through palmas (hand clapping). In addition to the
technique a choreography of a dance will be taught at a very slow and
patient pace. Prerequisite: Beginning Flamenco Technique and anyone
who has studied some type of formal dance training for at least six months
to one year consistently. Evaluations will be made upon the first two
classes as to whether student can be placed in a different class
level.
Beginning I-B Adult Flamenco
This class teaches beginning to intermediate principles of flamenco
movement. Class cover postura (posture), brazeo (armwork), floreo
(handwork), vueltas (turns), taconeo (footwork) and compas (rhythm
phasing). Students will examine basic rhythms through palmas (hand
clapping). In addition to the technique a choreography at the appropriate
level will be taught. Prerequisite: Beginning Flamenco Technique and
Beginning Flamenco I-A class.
Beginning II Adult Flamenco
This class teaches beginning to intermediate principles of flamenco
movement. Class cover postura (posture), brazeo (armwork), floreo
(handwork), vueltas (turns), taconeo (footwork) and compas (rhythm
phasing). Students will examine basic rhythms through palmas (hand
clapping). In addition to the technique a choreography at the appropriate
level will be taught.
Intermediate Adult Flamenco
The class continues principles of flamenco movement. Choreography will
be taught to appropriate level. Including, entradas, marcajes, escobillas,
falsetas and llamadas as the choreography requires. Students will
continue to examine rhythms through palmas (hand clapping).
Castanet Technique, 1/2 hour class
Exercises are given to develop articulation, coordination, speed,
musicality. Correct position and placement for execution of castanet work
will be taught and emphasized.
